When I arrive to Käringsjövallen in Härjedalen the sun already started to set below the horizon.
I pack down my gear in my sledge and soon I was on my way out in the wilderness again.
I follow a snowmobile track to Käringsjön. I ski over frozen mires and small woodland lake. The trail goes through mountain birches and old pines.
The last ray of light glow on the mountains and tree tops. Soon the light fade away for a long dark night. I turn on my headlamp.
Campsite in the moonlight
When I arrive to the lake Rogen I followed the shoreline and pitch my tent at the lake Rogen. I heard the waves further out on the lake. The moon rise up and light up my campsite at an old pine tree.
I made my self a dinner, ”Bullens Korv” and then I spend the evening in reading my book from Berhard Nordh and the map. Soon I fall a sleep.
Pale winter sun
I Woke up and it was still dark, I think the clock was around 8 in the morning. It would take an hour and a half before the pale glowing winter sun began to gently rise on the horizon.
Breakfast preparation by the tent
I create breakfast and boil some water to the thermos and soon I was ready to pack down my gear again and ski against Skedbrostugan, because the lake Rogen wasn’t frozen I cannot follow the ordinary winter route over the lake Rogen. I need to follow the summer route.
I came across this nice river in the low glowing winter sun and the stones was powered with soft powder snow. Just magic!
The days are really short this time of year and you don’t have to ski long before you have to set up your camp again. I had plan to camp somewhere along Rogen so I could collect water instead of melting snow. This time of years many hours are spent in the sleeping bag, great time to read a books.
The stars sparks on the sky and the ice singing in the cold winter night in the wilderness. The night between December 7-8 the ice lay on Rogen. At least close to the shoreline.
Snowy gray morning
I have hope for some great morning lights on the mountaintops next morning but it was all gray and soon it starts snowing. I ski cross over a few small woodland lake on my way back to the car, nice to experience the woodland from the lakes.
Old pines and Wolverine tracks
Out on a smal wood land lake under a old pine I find tracks from a Wolverine.
